Hi,

Here“s my take on "The Dick Kicker" stems given away by the Andy Sneap forums member "Ensi", here: http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/rate ... u-mix.html

Those forums are a great source for DI and mixing related material, great players providing great quality DI tracks. All drum programming and playing on this track is Ensi's work.

This is my "second" try wrestling a full drumkit processing, so it may be a little crappy... but, here it is anyway:

http://soundcloud.com/tedeele/the-dick- ... ysneap-mix

And a direct link to the 192kbit/s mp3 (I think there are audible differences):

Regards!

Hi TLD

Great stuff! It sounds tight as hell and is very niced programmed. I think you nailed the drums pretty nicely. They sat good in the mix as we say in Norway:-) I'd love to use this track on the webpage if it's possible. If I should give you a tiny advice wich is probably subjective, I'd open the compressors a bit on the snare. They seemed to duck the overall sound of the snare a tad. Maybe also the masterbus compressor but that might also be the mp3. Other than that it sounded very cool!

Hi! Thanks for your comments and advice! I have fiddled a little more with the mix... though I don't know exactly what you mean by "ducking" I suppose it is related to some kind of "pulsing" when the signal is too strong and enters a compressor with high ratio... maybe totally wrong here, lol!

EDIT: Must say I mix on cans, I have now listened to it with speakers and maybe you are referring to the snare sounding a little "thin" or "muffled" on occasions? Maybe it's more noticeable on speakers... I have eased off the Euphoric compressor on the highs for the drums folder track, maybe now...

What I have done now is lowering the Highpass filter on the kick compressor, and gating + side chaining a compressor (from the kick) on the ambience bus (not the kit's room, a Kjaerhus Classic reverb one).

Don't know if it sounds any better (or worse), though >.<

As for the use in the web, as I said on the previous post I don't hold any rights for the tracks. They are property of Ensi, a member of ultimatemetal.com forums. I may contact him, if you would like, in order to get you both in touch.

Regards!

EDIT: Here's his thread: http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/rate ... u-mix.html

Great progress. Think it sounds better now:-) Ensi is in so I'm gonna put this on my webby. Do you want to do any additional stuff to it?
Seems like there are some volum things going up an down around 2.25 and some other places.

Great! I think I have made a major overhaul, though... I tried to mix Ensi's impressions onto this also, so I changed the guitars cabinet simulation and tried to EQ the snare a bit more.

Here is the new version with and without intro:

Please, let me know what do you think. If you like the previous guitars better I'll take on the volume problems in the old project's branch. :)

Regards!!

Ok, finally reverted to the old guitar cabinet simulations and tried to balance things out.
