Hi! I have to say I love the myDrumset plug in! It sounds great.

Really curious what you have in store. That version you were going to upload last Christmas, has that come to be? That high-hat close switch sounds like it would really help realism even further.

Hi Dutch

Good question! I guess being a dad takes up much more of my time than I expected. I also have done a lot of other things that takes up time. Writing manuscripts, composing, producing etc.

Hihat closure switch is working fine in the next version:-)

Don't I know it?

Being a dad is very time consuming. I actually just got around to fiddling with MyDrumset which I downloaded months ago. Like before Christmas...

But one factor was that I could not just load GM drum rythms into MyDrumset's piano roll and have it come out passable. I'm using Reaper and they did improve the midi part much recently so I actually figured out how to fix it and change the notes to your layout, but I have to go compare the running piano roll in Reaper to the audio in MediaPlayer to see which dot was supposed to be which note.

That next version is not anywhere near releaseable?

I have noticed MyDrumset puts some burden on my laptop. I have to increase the latency to huge numbers to get click-free. Darn Vista. It's not the processor that's running at 15%, it's firewire throughput, I think.

Hi again.

I must admit that the version has been lying there finished with 3 drumset. Fully working. I wanted to ad a metal drumkit and a jazz, then finish. The worst thing is that it would probably not take me much more than a couple of weeks to finish it off. Then comes the copy protection and finding a suitable distrubutor.

The finish version will be a little better on the cpu and much better on RAM since the wavefiles are not inside the dll anymore.

It's good youre kicking my ass. I need that. I'm even more geard up after this conversation.

Certainly hope I'm not the only one spurring you on?

I know there are some humongous drum apps out there already, but they all command mucho dinero. Not very desirable for an amateur like me.

I'm only using them to jam to, maybe do some demo's when I get around to doing some writing, but having killer drums like yours is very inspiring!

Thanks for the nice words.
I get about 5 - 10 emails a week about this plug so you're no the only one:-) I am thankfull for all the kind words. I realize that I have to pick it up again and finish it. I have talked to the guy that has the two missing drumsets. I copy of the famous white Metallica TAMA set with double kick drum and a Gretch Jazz set. The two missing pieces. We have decided that these shall be recorded during june.

Work for me but good for everybody else

Well, really, you don't have to do anything. Would be great if you did anyway, though. :D

Good luck and stop wasting time answering these posts! >:)

Until it's ready of course.

Hi!

A month onward, just thought I'd say...
Hi!

I've been using the plug-ins to program some drum parts to covers we need to rehearse without our drummer. He works night shifts quite often and planned his vacation right before a gig... I noticed I need to bump the treble on everything, but most specifcally the snare quite a bit to get it to sound equal to the original live recordings.
Another thing is the toms are tuned quite far apart so they really stand apart in the fills. Is there a way to tune them a bit so they integrate more? Maybe some more toms to have options?
Of course that would throw off either the drum layout with additional toms beyond the cymbals or the backwards compatibility if you change it. I'm currently blending in the kick a bit to have them sound more together.

Hmmm. Food for thought.

Another thing is that both the Rock as the 70s drumset identify themselves just as "Mydrumset" by Bjärte Ludvigsen. No way to tell them apart in the fx-window in Reaper.

I also have the latency at 768 samples, because otherwise the plug-in drops-out. Really anticipating that new, lighter, version of yours.

He he. All your problems will be fixed in the new version. I have been working a lot with it lately and I now have only the jazz set left, but that has the brushes and rodsticks so editing is almost 3 sets.
The version I have on my machine is quite smooth with less CPU usage and no loading time in the sequencer. There will probably no option to pitch the drums individually. I want to keep it as authentic as possible, but the sounds are way better than the BETA version.

Adding highends to drums is very typical in a mixing process. Don't expect a SM57 to sound bright! Anyway that is the downside for having a plugin that sounds real. The good thing is that is does sound realistic and you can tweak it the way you want.
The finish version sounds a bit brighter though. Due to the microphones used, tuning and actualy using new heads:-) The beta version was recorded with old crappy heads and a cracked cymbal. It was made just to check if I could do it.

The new version will also contain between 5 - 10 layers of samples for each drum. So - much more realistic.

The one that waits...waits for something good.

;)

I just noticed that 768 samples is actually only 13 ms.
Confused samples with ms. Should be pretty decent.
Still, actually trying to record audio (guitar) while monitoring through the DAW is very confusing, even with only 13ms latency. Which probably works both ways, AD and DA, which adds up to quite a bit of delayed signal. So I record monitoring direct.

Nice to know the treble thing isn't just me and you having taste differences. Doing it this way is the best, although maybe not the most ready-to-roll way. We can tweak the tone ourselves is the upside, downside is we will have to.
It's a bit like the debate we have over at the Fractal Audio forums, with some people wanting an in-the-room tone-standing next to your cab-type of tone, which is hardly possible when recording, and some want a processed-to-tape-direct tone, (miked, EQ-ed, compressed, etc.). It's nice to be able to experience in the room tone eand feel, but I want a tone I can happpily present to my audience. Which takes tweaking. :D

's All good.

Anyway. Any chance to try a beta of yours?

I will promote 1 beta person for each sequencer brand there is. I will send an email to all the people at this forum and everyone interested should reply. The beta person has to write a little how-to-set-it-up in the sequencer PDF and check every possible function.

Hmmm. Okay.

I'm on Reaper. Currently on Vista 32bits, but I just ordered a Win7 upgrade and will probably go 64bits if my interface will allow it.

You have a list of functions to check?

Didn't mean I'd have to be the one.
This was just my application. and info.

You have to pick able people to beta this thing.
I'd like to be considered. That's all. But I'd understand if you chose someone else. I'm not really an experienced poweruser. Whenever you're ready of course.

A jazz version of the (old) kit sounds great to me! Big yes to brushes and mallets... I always liked the sound of Fave Drumset best (compared to others) but don't always use the beta in tracks only due to hi-hat closure and the cymbals. I actually like duller sounding drums (new heads not a bad idea though!), so adding eq to taste is ok with me. Losing the pitch option is not so bad, anyway I feel it doesn't sound all that great in the other VSTi's out there.

I will be really happy when the final version's released, and happy to beta test etc when it's time!

all the best!
