Hi,

First of all, Congrats on the plugins!!

Just wondering if anyone out there has a workaround to solve the hihat closure issue. Or do we just hafta wait for the final release?

BTW I am running it in reaper.

Thanx

Hi guys

I know this thread is quite old, but it just came to me that there actually is a workaround...

1)
you can load 3 instances of my drumset and use one for open HH, 2nd for closed HH and another for the rest of the drumkit

(technically you might get away with 2 instances - one for drumkit+closed HH and the other for open HH, but for me it's easier to manage Hi Hats in a separate section especially when I reject some channels that are not essential)

build multichannel output for each of them (possibly deleting channels that are not important for the HH - but this is up to you) then route the signal to single stereo tracks for both closed & open Hi Hat.

now you can "open" the track of open HH using your host automation - simply program desired volume (e.g. -2dB) when the open hit starts & go down to zero when there is a next closed hit on another HH track.

2)
another thing that might work would be exporting only closed HH and only open HH to separate Audio files & doing a manual cut on the open HH track in your sequencer. This method is probably better for your computer performance, cause you don't have to launch multiple instances of MyDrumset, but it doesn't give you absolutely no idea about how the end result will look like when you're programming. You also need to mix Hi Hat tracks before you even make the first cut...

For obvious reasons the above won't work for e-drums, or any "live" situation - it's usable only in case of programmed drum parts.
It also takes time to program automation, but if you have some spare time and/or are desperate to use MyDrumset's demo hi hat with all it's potential, then you might as well give it a try.

edit: I wanted to attach a short mp3 example of drums with open/close HH made using the method with 3 instances, but it says that mp3 format is not allowed as attachment...

He he. 24 of desember or the days around there, I will post an update of the beta version. It will include hihatswitching. It will be a gift to all members of the forum. A christmas present.

During tracking, if you hit the hi-hat key hard, it is like a sem-open hard strike and serves as a pretty decent accent.

I think the technically easiest solution to get a full open hat that cuts off would be to record the midi you want minus the open hat, then do the open hi-hat parts seperately, bounce them to WAV and cut them off at will.

GREAT program!!

I thought about using a side chained gate that will cut the OHH sound if the CHH is triggered.
I'm using reaper so it should be pretty easy to do that. I'll post an example once I've figured it out :)

Cheers,

Phil
